Compositing in Nuke
I went into this project knowing I wanted to composite in Nuke. The shots with the small black particles (like the one in the bottom right of the pic above) needed a LOT of samples in rendering as they were very glossy. With renders taking so long and being so intense (my computer sounded like Toy Story 2 Wheezy Crying for a lot of this one), I knew I needed to be able to lock down the final look of each shot in compositing rather than entirely in 3D/Lighting in Blender. I also wanted to be able to apply the right amount of de-noise to each element separately as to avoid losing important detail in the clouds of small cubes.

I drew the storyboards in Photoshop and compiled them in Premiere. Some might call them crudely drawn but I'd say they're cube-ist.

All the modeling, simulation, and animation was done in Blender and rendered with Cycles.
